Frequently asked questions

What is EziMDF Primed and what's it used for?
EziMDF Primed is a premium medium-density fibreboard moulding range supplied factory-primed and DAR (dressed all round), ideal for skirting, architraves, lining boards and door jambs. The pre-primed surface accepts paint topcoats directly without further primer preparation, saving site time. Birak stocks EziMDF in profiles from 30x12 mini boards through 140x18 wide architraves, plus jamb sets in 112x18 and 112x30 — all in 5.4m or 2.105m/2.4m lengths.
What edge profiles does Birak's EziMDF range cover?
Birak supplies EziMDF in DAR (square edge), Bevel (chamfered edge), Bullnose (rounded edge) and H/Splay (half-splay angled edge) profiles, available across 67x18, 92x18 and 140x18 sections. DAR suits modern flat-edge architectural detailing, Bullnose suits traditional finishes, Bevel and H/Splay provide subtle period detailing. All are pre-primed for direct paint topcoat application — no separate priming step required on site.
Are EziMDF flat jamb sets ready to install?
Yes. Birak supplies EziMDF Flat Jamb Sets in 112x18 and 112x30 sections, in 2.105m and 2.4m lengths to suit standard residential door height. Each set is pre-cut and primed for direct installation around standard internal door openings, saving site time compared to ripping and machining jamb stock from sheet. Combined with our EziMDF architraves, the door surround can be sourced as a complete pre-primed package on a single PO.
MDF mouldings vs solid timber — which to use?
Pre-primed MDF mouldings give a uniform, knot-free, paint-ready surface with no grain telegraphing through finish coats — ideal for modern painted interiors. Solid timber mouldings (typically dressed pine or hardwood) suit clear-finished or stained applications where natural grain is desired. MDF is dimensionally more stable than narrow timber sections, reducing splits at fixings. Birak supplies EziMDF for painted work and solid timber mouldings for stained or natural finishes, so specifiers can match material to finish.
Does EziMDF count toward Indigenous Procurement Policy targets?
Yes. Birak is Supply Nation Registered, so every dollar spent on EziMDF Primed mouldings, jamb sets and the rest of our range counts toward your IPP 4% target. Audit-ready procurement documentation is supplied automatically with each invoice. For volume builders, fitout contractors and Commonwealth-funded interior projects, switching skirting and architrave supply to Birak is a high-volume way to lift Indigenous procurement contribution per home or project.
