Frequently asked questions

What pine moulding profiles does Birak stock?
Birak stocks the full range of practical exterior and interior pine mouldings: 32x8 cover battens, 42x10 cover strip, 11mm and 18mm quad, 30mm scotia, 30x18 wind mould, 42x42 corner moulds in both 21mm and 11mm rebates, and 66x30 lattice surrounds in 21mm and 8mm rebates. All H3 treated, all in 5.4m lengths — long enough to run typical room and façade lengths without joins.
What is the difference between quad, scotia and a wind mould?
Quad is a quarter-round profile used to mask gaps where two surfaces meet — common at architrave-to-wall and small skirting transitions. Scotia is a concave cove profile, often used at ceiling/wall junctions or where a softer transition is wanted. Wind mould is a flat-sided exterior moulding used to seal the joint between weatherboard ends and corner trims, blocking wind-driven rain from getting behind the cladding.
Are these mouldings primed and ready to finish?
The Design Pine mouldings stocked through Birak are H3 treated and engineered for exterior architectural use. Primer is supplied as a companion product — Design Pine 1 Litre Primer in cartons of 6 — for cut ends and on-site touch-ups. ECOSEAL Finish and ENSEAL Clear Finish are stocked in cartons of 12 as the recommended exterior topcoat finish, keeping the substrate, primer and topcoat from one consistent system.
Do pine mouldings through Birak count toward IPP spend?
Yes. Birak is Supply Nation Registered, so every dollar spent on pine mouldings, lattice surrounds and finishing products through us counts toward your 4% Indigenous Procurement Policy target. Mouldings are typically ordered alongside larger weatherboard or fascia packages, so they are an easy way to extend Indigenous-eligible spend on jobs that already specify Design Pine or other treated pine architectural products.
Can Birak deliver pine mouldings nationwide?
Yes. Most pine moulding stockists are state-bound, requiring builders to open multiple regional accounts to keep consistent profiles across a national project. Birak ships the full Design Pine moulding range to every Australian state and territory, with typical lead times of 5–10 business days for stocked profiles. Mouldings, primer, weatherboards and matching cover strips can be supplied on a single purchase order.
