A-Bond Glue
Phenol-formaldehyde adhesive bond classified Type A under AS/NZS 2754.1, providing weather, boil, and structural durability for permanent exposure.
Type A bond is a phenol-formaldehyde resin glue line classified under AS/NZS 2754.1 as suitable for permanent full exposure to weather and prolonged wet conditions. It is the bond required for structural plywood to AS/NZS 2269, marine plywood to AS/NZS 2272, exterior plywood to AS/NZS 2271, and LVL to AS/NZS 4357. The bond passes the boil test specified in the standard, distinguishing it from B-bond (interior, melamine-fortified urea) and C-bond (interior, urea-formaldehyde). A-bond does not by itself provide decay resistance for the wood: where decay or termite hazard is present, the plywood must also be treated to the appropriate hazard class. For buyers, confirm A-bond is shown on the brand stamp before using a panel in any external or wet application.
