Engineered Grades

GL18

High-grade hardwood glulam with approximately 18 GPa modulus of elasticity, used where maximum strength and stiffness are required from a laminated section.

A premium hardwood-based glue-laminated timber grade manufactured to AS/NZS 1328.1, with a mean modulus of elasticity of approximately 18 GPa and high characteristic bending strength. GL18 is specified for heavy-duty structural beams, commercial portals, bridges, and architecturally exposed members where solid hardwood beams are unavailable in the required length. Performance is verified by AS 1720.1 design provisions. The hardwood laminations result in a dense, hard product that is heavier to handle than softwood glulam. For buyers, GL18 generally has longer lead times because it is often made to order. Confirm appearance grade, preservative treatment, finger-jointing standard, and any architectural finish requirements before placing the order.
