Form Ply (Formwork Plywood)
Structural plywood with a phenolic-film face coating, used for concrete formwork to deliver a smooth off-form finish across multiple pours.
Formwork plywood is a structural plywood (typically F14 or F17 grade to AS/NZS 2269) with one or both faces overlaid with a phenolic film. The film provides a low-friction, water-resistant surface that releases cleanly from set concrete and produces a smooth Class 2 or Class 3 off-form finish. Standard sheet sizes are 1800 x 1200 mm or 2400 x 1200 mm, in thicknesses from 12 mm to 18 mm. Edges should be sealed before reuse to prevent moisture ingress and delamination. Form ply is reusable for multiple pours, with the number of pours depending on care taken during stripping and storage. For buyers, the higher upfront cost is offset by reuse and the off-form finish achieved. Plan storage flat and dry, and reseal cut edges promptly.
