Copper Azole

Modern arsenic-free water-borne preservative using copper plus organic azole co-biocides, certified for H3 to H5 environments and widely used for treated pine decking.

A water-borne preservative system combining copper with organic triazole co-biocides such as tebuconazole or propiconazole. The copper provides broad-spectrum fungicidal protection while the azoles boost performance against copper-tolerant fungi. Copper azole formulations are arsenic- and chromium-free, suitable for residential applications including decking, retaining walls, and landscape timber, with retentions for H3 through H5 specified in AS/NZS 1604.1. The treated timber typically has a brown-green tint, often pigmented to a more uniform brown finish. For buyers, copper azole has similar fastener-corrosion behaviour to ACQ, so specify hot-dip galvanised or stainless steel fixings per AS 3566. End-grain reseal is essential at every cut to maintain the protection.
